The Tower of Silence in Mumbai is situated on Malabar Hill in the city center and it is the Parsi holy place where their dead are given their last rites. The Parsi community in Mumbai makes up quite a large number of the city's population. According to the customs and traditions of the Parsis, the dead are left out in the open spaces called the Tower of Silence in Mumbai where vultures eat their bodies. For the people of the Parsi community, this is considered as the final act of charity. There is a procession of mourners who daily enter the yellow gate of the Tower of Silence in Mumbai into the walled territory where the vultures wait.

The last and the oldest Tower of Silence were erected by Modi Hizi Wachha who was among the earliest Parsi settlers in Mumbai. This tower is presently used by his descendants.
